If you shave your head or your face regularly, then you need to invest in and start using a pre shave exfoliating scrub!
Not only will this ensure your skin is healthier and cleaner, but it will have a dramatic positive effect on the quality of your shave.
Exactly 4 years ago, I decided enough was enough and took a pair of clippers and shaved my head.
It was the best feeling ever and still wonder to this day why it took my 8 years to take the plunge.
Fast forward 4 years, shaving my head every second day has become a ritual to the point where I am always looking for new tips, tricks and ways to get an even smoother scalp.
Grooming and maintenance of my scalp is very important to me, but I wanted to find out how I could improve my pre-shave experience and get an even smooth scalp.
I read online for many bald head folk that using a pre-shave scrub improves your head shave tenfold and leaves you with a smoother head shave.
So I decided to test out this theory, and it really makes a huge difference to the head shaving experience.

Using a pre shave exfoliating scrub has many benefits for your scalp when it comes to shaving your head.
But how can an exfoliate scrub assist you when it comes to shaving your head?
It simply softens the hair on your scalp which makes for a cleaner head shave.
Simple as that.
But what are some of the other benefits of using a scalp and facial exfoliate scrub a few times a week?
Below Are Just a Few More Benefits
- Gently exfoliates your skin which opens up all of your blocked up pores
- Gets rid of built up dirt and dead skin cells
- Keeps your skin hydrated and smooth

Once you have decided to take the plunge and shave your head, it’s important to get into a good grooming routine.
We learn’t this the hard way, and only started taking our scalp care routine seriously about 12 months after taking the plunge.
The problem with not having a grooming routine is that before you know it, your scalp and face have become so dehydrated, dry and itchy especially in cold winter months.
This obviously becomes an issue and then needs to fixed.
Ever heard of the expression “prevention is better than cure?”.
Well yes, this also applies to having a grooming routine.

How Often Should You Use An Exfoliate Scrub?
We recommend that an exfoliate scrub should not be used more than 2-3 times per week.
Exfoliating your skin is a good habit, but too much of anything can cause serious problems.
There is a fine line between doing it not often enough and exfoliating too often.
Exfoliating daily can cause several problems, including irritation, dryness, and broken blood vessels.
The other extreme is not exfoliating enough, which can lead to a buildup of dead skin cells that can clog pores and result in all sorts of skin problems.
Usually, it is good enough to exfoliate 2-3 times per week to get rid of dead skin cells and soften the hair follicles on your scalp prior to a head-shave.
We shave our heads 2-3 times per week, so we combine our face and scalp exfoliate days with shaving our heads.
It took me 4 years of shaving my head to realise this little trick and I wish i had realised this sooner!
This has really lifted my head shaving routine to another level and my scalp now only feels smooth and more hydrated after a headshave.
